Frequently Asked Questions

We don’t coach weight loss. We DO firmly advocate for body autonomy, which means we support your decision to do what you think is best for your body.
We can facilitate reflection around body image, and provide education for your informed consent if you choose to pursue intentional weight loss.
However, we don’t measure your success in our program by change in weight or body size. If you desire coaching specifically to lose weight, we are not the right professionals for you.

Strength. Confidence. New skills. Injury prevention. Increased stamina. Reduced pain. Resilience in aging. Bone density. Muscle mass. Badassery.
Whatever resonates with you, is what makes it worth it.

Many coaches say they help people of all sizes, but they don’t have the personal or professional experience to coach clients in larger bodies safely and effectively.
While we prioritize size inclusivity first, we are intersectional!
Our combined lived, educational, and professional experience means we understand cultural impacts on your relationship with movement, and we are really good at coaching people who are queer, neurodivergent, disabled, have multiple diagnoses, deal with chronic pain, have CPTSD related to weight stigma and/or exercise.
Each of our coaches has a minimum of 7 years experience teaching movement to clients of all sizes and abilities. We REALLY know how to make movement feel accessible!

Absolutely! We can build routines for you to do at home, in a commercial gym, outside, and anywhere in-between.
You don’t need a gym to get stronger and build your confidence. We do recommend having a pair of dumbbells and/or a kettlebell for strength training, but we can work with whatever you’ve got.

First, you’ll fill out a coaching intake form, so your coach understands your background and priorities. Then, your coach will create a plan and utilize your first few sessions to explore/teach movements related to your priorities.
Logging into your training sessions is as simple as opening the PowerUP Movement app and clicking “join session.” You can do this on your phone/tablet, or use the desktop link provided in onboarding.
At first, there will be a bit of trial and error, as you build trust and see what feels safe and what challenges feel appropriate at this point in time. Your coach may give you assignments to work on outside of your sessions (if you want). Over time, you’ll be challenged with movements that reflect your goals, and you’ll receive more complex assignments.

During onboarding, you’ll get a Welcome Booklet with screenshots of how to use the app. Our app host also has “how-to” videos and a help desk, in case you have any questions.
In the app, you can direct message your coach and ask as many questions as you want. Voice memos and photo/video can also be shared.
You’ll also have access to a cache of past workshops which you can peruse at any time, as well as the Team PowerUP group chat, where Sarah shares updates, events, and other info with current clients.

During your consultation and/or onboarding process, you and your coach will pick set time(s) for your session(s) each week. As soon as your payment goes through, our practice manager Morgan will get you scheduled for the first session.
If at any point, you need to reschedule to a different day/time, you can do it yourself in the app and choose an option based on your coach’s availability.
We have a standard 24-hour cancellation policy, meaning you are free to reschedule without forfeiting your session, up to 24 hours before the session is scheduled to take place. If you don’t reschedule or notify your coach that you need to reschedule, and it’s less than 24 hours until your session, you forfeit the session and your coach gets paid for the time they set aside for you.
The exception: our “freebie cancel” policy. We know life can be unpredictable sometimes, and we don’t want to penalize you for being human. Once a month, you can reschedule your session within that 24 hour window, IF you notify your coach at least 1 hour before the session takes place. Your coach will reschedule your session at their convenience.
If you know way ahead of time that you need to reschedule (for travel, doc appointment, etc.), let your coach know and they or Morgan will sort it out for you.
